Summary: Prompt: AU in which Kurt/Blaine didn’t meet in high school. Kurt spots Blaine his first day at school – they share a number of classes and a few common acquaintances, but Kurt can never quite get up the courage to talk to the handsome, confident boy and resigns himself to admiring from afar. In his spare time Kurt volunteer’s on the University’s student helpline. It’s some weeks before he realises that the lonely, unhappy boy he’s been talking to regularly is the same smiling face he sees every day, and he’s torn then, because he wants to help, but how can he without betraying Blaine’s trust.

Author’s notes: There is very little actual politics in this story but as my knowledge of US politics is based almost exclusively on the BBC and The West Wing this is probably a good thing.
My thanks to the original prompter – I had been toying with writing something along these lines already so when I saw the prompt I had to take it. Hope you like the result. My thanks also to the mods for a submission date extension when Kurt decided he didn’t want to play any more and went shopping instead.
